Ninja Nation

Ninja Nation

Hello students, parents, and coaches of MGC and Ninja Nation- I hope you’re as excited as I am to begin MGC’s revamped Ninja class! This class has been restructured and taken on by new staff as to fully embody the techniques, mechanics, and philosophy of Parkour and the Ninja ways. Please take a look at our basic syllabus/ class content plan below.

General Syllabus:

The Ninja course focuses on the gymnastic sport of Parkour, as well as agility, physical strength, respect for surroundings and others, and the self discipline needed for all of the above. Here are some of the skills and focuses that we’ll be taking on in this class.

The Basics:

  • Rolling, (Forward Shoulder, Backward Shoulder, Side Rolls etc.)
  • Vaulting, (Kongs, Lazy Vaults, Safety Vaults, etc.)
  • Gaps/ Leaps, (Forward Static, Forward Running, Precision, Cat Leaps, Vertical Static)
  • Proper Landing Technique
  • Proper Grip/ Footing/ Falling Technique
  • Wall Running (Vertical, Limited Horizontal)

Each of these basic skills can be developed and improved upon almost indefinitely- they can be added to, simplified, modified, and personalized in the spirit of Parkour. Students in the Ninja class will be able to advance to higher level classes as their skills and techniques further develop. As the level of the class rises, so will the precision, challenge, and focus of the skills we learn- but so will the fun we have!

As for the philosophy of the class, we believe that while we want to have fun learning and practicing parkour, we also want to practice safely and avoid injury as far as possible. We also encompass the values of respect for one’s self and others, respect for surroundings (both inside and out of the gym), self control, self discipline, and team-like bonds between us and those with whom we practice. Parkour and the Ninja Sport teach us to overcome mental barriers and subsequently overcome our physical obstacles both as efficiently, and as creatively as possible- let’s work together to find full potential of skill and ability that we all have waiting to emerge. I hope to see you there!
