Dance Class Descriptions
Preschool Dance & Gym Combo- Starting off with creative movement dance, students will work on the basics of dance, rhythm, coordination, gross motor skills, and more in fun and imaginative ways. We will wiggle like worms, stomp like elephants, paint pretend rainbows, and tip toe like faeries. While specific skills will be taught, students will also have the opportunity to dance freely and let their creativity soar! From there we will move on to gymnastics where we will practice the basics of beam, bars, vault, and floor.
Preschool Dance- This creative movement dance class will give students the opportunity to work on the basics of dance, rhythm, coordination, gross motor skills, and more in fun and imaginative ways. While basic skills in the style of ballet, jazz, and acro will be taught, students will also have the opportunity to dance freely and let their creativity soar!
Dance 1- Our dance 1 class is a combo of ballet and jazz. Students will learn the basic techniques and movements of each style. We will work on coordination, balance, musicality, strength, flexibility, and more. Ballet is a graceful style of dance that teaches important foundational body alignment and technique for dance. In ballet, students can expect to move a bit slower and more fluid, work on turn out in the hips, and storytelling through movement. Jazz is more upbeat and students can expect to slide, kick, and jump to more fast paced tunes! We will also touch on some basic acro skills. We recommend ballet slippers, a leotard with tights/shorts/leggings, and hair tied up.
Adult Contemporary Dance- Contemporary dance is a style that fuses together multiple styles of dance to create a fluid style with lots of connection to emotion, connection to the music, and storytelling elements.This class will primarily use modern dance technique- a style that is known for combining movement to breath, twists, releases, floorwork, and grounded feel-good movement that is based on our body's natural alignment. We will combine this modern technique with some ballet and jazz elements to work on fun choreography. This is a great option for adults looking to work on strength, flexibility, and balance, as well as a fun creative outlet.
